Emelia is the conversational assistant at Ramon Pont’s school and is the extra English classes teacher. She is also doing practices to become a teacher in the future.
What did you study?
At university I studied a degree in marketing for three years and then, after that I studied for my teaching qualification, so at PGCE in teaching English and I did that in the UK.
What is your opinion about the school’s English level?
I think it is very good that there are some students that have a really good level of English, which surprised me, even the youngest students can understand English, so it’s very good.
Which is your opinion about the school feelings/vibes?
I think everybody is very friendly and everybody seems really nice, everyone says hello to everyone, which is nice, I think it’s because it’s a small school, and that is probably very nice, because you can get to know everybody easier.
Do you like the facilities of our school?
Yes, I think so. I think the new building is very nice, the new section seems like it has been a lot of work and there are some exciting things.
Do you prefer to work with the younger or with the older students?
I think it’s very different working with younger and older people. Sometimes working with older students is maybe a bit different because they understand more. But then, working with younger students is also a really bit different because it’s maybe a bit more: you can play games a little bit more fun sometimes. But with older students you can have better conversations. But there are good sights both.
What would you improve about our school?
Maybe sometimes the internet, sometimes my computer is very slow.
Where and when were you born?
I was born 13th of December of 1997 and I was born in a small city near Leeds called Wakefield.
How was your childhood?
It was good, I grew up with my mom and my dad in Wakefield and we did lots of nice things with the park and the lake which was nice. When I was a little bit older, I had a brother, and then a sister, that was a nice change. When I found out that I was going to get a brother and a sister, I was really excited. If I was an only child, it could be a little bit boring. In England, we don’t have fun things like the beach nearby, but I live in nice feels, parks and the countryside is very pretty.
How do you think you will be in some years?
I think at the moment I would maybe like to stay in Spain, that would be nice and I would like to maybe get a job like a teacher. In England, when you become a teacher, you have to train for 2 years teaching in a school, so I tried, I did my first year, and now I have to do my second year so I will be finished. So maybe, I would like to get a job in a british school in Spain, so I can finish my 3 years here.
Which do you prefer, England or Catalonia?
I think maybe, the weather in Catalonia is obviously a lot better compared to cold weather in England.
How do you feel living in Catalonia?
I think I really like it. It is nice, there are a lot of things to do around and obviously Barcelona is really close and it is very nice. Go to Barcelona and explore around it, which is a big city and a lot to do, and a lot of people. But the thing that’s so difficult are the 2 languages because sometimes I maybe understand a little bit Spanish but Catalan, when I hear someone talking, I think oh my gosh, I don’t understand this language…
What do you like to do in your free time? Do you practice any sport?
Yes, I like to practice tennis in my free time, I’m not very good, but I like to do it, and I like to go running a lot, because I like to go running but I’m a little bit lazy, I like to do short runnings, and I want to say “keep trying”.
Do you like to travel?
Yeah, I like to go travel around Spain. Because I think I want to be here or maybe in France, so later travel around the world.
What countries would you like to discover?
I would like to discover North America, and travel around it. But I think I will need a lot of time and maybe money.
Which languages do you speak?
I only speak english.
Which world would you use to describe our school?
Maybe friendly, but I think it’s a very exciting school.
